Julie A. Baker
I am starting my 31st exciting year in Education!
I began my journey as a High School Teacher and Coach (Track and Volleyball) and from there transitioned into the Assistant Principal/Athletic Director role. I then moved to the Elementary level and was the Principal of two Elementary schools-one of which was an old rural one-room schoolhouse! After 12 years in Elementary, my Superintendent asked me to serve as Interim Principal for the Middle School. Currently, I am very happy to share that I am serving in my 9th year as Principal of Twombly Elementary.
I graduated from the University of Wyoming and received my Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Northern Colorado.
I have three grown boys, all of which live near me in Colorado.
I am starting my 12th year in education and ALL 12 of them have been at Twombly Elementary!
I was a classroom teacher for the first 6 years of my career teaching everything from CLD, 5th Grade and 3rd Grade. In 2017, I was fortunate enough to become Twombly’s new Assistant Principal. Principal Baker has been a fantastic mentor and I consider myself super lucky to have her as my teammate!
I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado (GO BEARS!) and received my Masters degree in Leadership in Educational Administration from Capella University in Minnesota.
I have been married for 5 years to my beautiful wife, Chelsie, who is also an elementary teacher. We love the community so much that we moved here in 2019. The two of us are dog parents to a yellow lab named Mila and are expecting our first child in February!
I enjoy playing basketball, golfing, camping and traveling with my family. I am also a HUGE sports fan of the Denver Nuggets, University of Nebraska Football, and THE LAS VEGAS RAIDERS!
