 Welcome to Twombly Elementary

2017 - 2018 School Year

Weekly Announcements

Melissa Goane's 2nd Grade Students on 9News

Attention Parents:  Due to the construction schedule for this summer, Twombly, Butler and Quest will end the current school year on Wednesday, May 16th.  Little Trappers Preschool, Fort Lupton Middle School and Fort Lupton High School will end on May 18th as originally scheduled.  Thank you for your patience!

On April 9, 2018, the Board of Education unanimously passed a change in the Homyak PK-8 School of Choice designation.  After careful study and research, Weld Re-8 placed attendance boundaries for students based on the location of the school.  Please click the link below to see the boundaries that were approved.

This change ensures every student’s ability to attend the school closest to him or her, but it does not change a student’s continuing opportunity to enroll in the school of his or her choice. All schools in the Weld Re-8 School District are Open Enrollment schools, and we encourage parents and students to look into what makes each of our schools unique. We want each student to feel a sense of pride in the school that he or she has chosen.

The decision to make all Weld Re-8 schools Open Enrollment Boundary Schools will not affect current Quest students’ ability to enroll in Homyak PK-8.

Please contact me with any questions you may have.

Our dear Parents and Families

It’s Testing Time !

Our state assessment window will begin tomorrow, April 10th and will not end until school is almost out.

This year the State of Colorado has required us to increase the security of testing sessions.   This means that for the rest of the year, parents and/or guardians will not be able to leave the lobby area.   If you need to bring something to your child, we kindly ask that you leave it with the front desk and we will deliver it to your child right away!   If parents are found in our hallways or in classrooms during testing, the State of Colorado will invalidate all tests (which is not good ).

Thank you in advance for your understanding during this very important time!

Math Enrichment Group

4th and 5th grade students are chosen by teachers who are showing success in the classroom and on assessments.  The students are building knowledge base of math higher level thinking and problem solving strategies.  The students enjoy working with high level questions with their peers from the whole grade level.  It encourages hands on computation of math and divergent thinking.

Spelling Bee

The third, fourth, and fifth graded participated in a school spelling bee.  The students began by taking a spelling test with words given to us by National Scripps Spelling Bee.  Those who were the top spellers were invited to join the spelling club.  We worked for three months practicing. Each grade level had a spelling bee where the top three students were decided. All three grade levels went to the school spelling bee with the top 9 spellers.  The final three went to the district spelling bee on February 6th.  We had one of those three win the district spelling bee and is going to state on March 10th.
